- China’s February 2026 EV sales fell 32 percent year-over-year, driven by a new purchase tax, trade-in policy changes and holiday timing effects, though declines remain significant even accounting for the Chinese New Year.
- Chinese OEMs are accelerating global expansion, with EV exports more than doubling year-over-year to more than 500,000 units from January through February 2026.
EVs accounted for 7.3 percent of U.S. new light-vehicle sales in February, below the 9.6 percent share recorded in February 2025, per Omdia estimates. EV sales fell 25 percent year-over-year in February (roughly 29,000 units). Year-to-date EV sales are down 55,000 units.
