Justin Harrison

Justin Harrison has worked in the electric power industry for over 25 years.  He has held a variety of positions in the power delivery space, including responsibility for engineering, construction, technical support, connectivity, and innovation.  He currently leads Alabama Power’s Engineering Services organization.  Power Delivery engineers seek to maximize the value they create for customers, by relying on data analytics to guide decision making for a range of opportunities, from traditional load growth planning all the way up to innovative technologies such as fiber optic cable deployment and strategic initiatives to improve reliability and resilience.  Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in management from The University of Alabama and is a licensed professional engineer.

In the electric transportation space, Justin represents power delivery on Alabama Power’s electric vehicle strategy committee.  Power Delivery’s central engineering and distribution standards teams help establish and communicate best practices to field engineers as they encounter new electric transportation opportunities, while the planning team evaluates long-term implications of EV charging behavior.  Justin helped create and then lead Southern Company’s EV grid preparedness team, which brings together distribution and transmission grid planners from Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
