Auto Innovators Statement on President Biden’s All-Electric Federal Fleet Announcement

For Attribution to Alliance for Automotive Innovation President and CEO John Bozzella:

“The auto industry is committed to vehicle electrification and will invest $330 billion in electrification by 2025. We strongly support the Administration’s efforts to lead by example. Efforts from governments and stakeholders at all levels will be key to meeting our shared EV goals and we look forward to continuing to work with the Administration to achieve a cleaner transportation future. Through collaboration we can ensure that the transition to EVs benefits all communities, supports American workers, and enhances U.S. competitiveness and economic security.”

Additional information on efforts from the Alliance for Automotive Innovation (Auto Innovators) toward the electric vehicle future:

During the Autos2050 Transforming Mobility Summit, multiple segments touched on the outlook and necessary conditions for the U.S. to achieve a successful transition to EVs, including conversations with Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Commerce Deputy Secretary Don Graves, IHS Markit Vice Chairman Daniel Yergin, J.D. Power’s Tyson Jominy, and more.

In September, Auto Innovators’ Future Driven Forum, Accelerating Electrification: Plugging In, featured discussion on the EV transition, including the need for public and private sector engagement.

In a letter to President Biden earlier this year, Auto Innovators wrote: While the approach we have outlined is robust, it should not preclude other important efforts by states and localities that support increased adoption of zero emission transportation via demand- and supply- side solutions. These include corresponding purchase/lease incentives, charging options, low carbon fuel standards, regional market-based carbon reduction efforts, fleet purchases, and use of high-occupancy vehicle lanes for travel.

Additionally, Auto Innovators has released our EV Agenda, EV Infrastructure Guiding Principles, initiated a quarterly EV report (read the first edition here), and will continue important efforts and engagement to encourage adoption of ZEV fleets.
