Director, Office of Impaired Driving and Occupant Protection | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Jane Terry serves as the Director of the Office of Impaired Driving and Occupant Protection at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a role she assumed in May 2024. She and her team are driven by the ability to develop programs to save lives on the roads by increasing seat belt use, eliminating impaired driving, and working across NHTSA and with other safety leaders.

Prior to her appointment at NHTSA, Jane spent nearly a decade in leadership at the National Safety Council (NSC) and led Government and Industry Affairs at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Throughout her career, Jane has established herself as a dedicated advocate for evidence-based policies, advanced safety technologies, data-driven injury prevention framework and innovation.
