Reporting to the VP, Industry Engagement and Partnerships, the Manager, Business Development and Engagement is a pivotal role responsible for fostering robust relationships with the expanding industry and key supplier partners, spearheading initiatives to achieve the organization’s revenue goals, and driving strategic partnerships. This position plays a crucial role in driving revenue growth, elevating the association's profile, and increasing member engagement through innovative business development strategies.


Business Development Strategies & Revenue Achievement

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the association's goals and objectives.
  • Identify new opportunities for revenue generation, partnerships, sponsorships, and strategic alliances to drive growth.
  • Develop, nurture and close revenue opportunities including sponsorships, subscriptions, and memberships that achieve organizational goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and advance a robust sales pipeline from leads through closes. Report and inform management on pipeline performance.

Industry Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, including member companies, key partners, and relevant institutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between the association and external entities, fostering collaboration, and identifying opportunities for synergy.

Membership Engagement and Retention:

  • Collaborate with the membership team to enhance member engagement initiatives.
  • Implement strategies to attract new members and enhance the association's membership base.

Event Planning and Execution:

Contribute to the planning, revenue goal attainment, and execution of events, conferences, and fora aimed at industry networking, knowledge sharing, and business development.

Market Analysis and Insights:

  • Conduct market research, addressable market sizing, segment needs analyses, industry trends analyses, and gather insights to inform business development strategies and member offerings.

Communication and Advocacy:

  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling messaging and materials to promote the association's initiatives, events, and value propositions.
  • Represent the association at industry events, fora, and meetings, advocating for its objectives and building the organization's visibility.

Collaborative Leadership:

  • Work collaboratively across departments, providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field is a plus
  • Prior experience in business development, sales, relationship management, or a similar role within the industry or a trade association.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing business strategies that drive growth and revenue.
  • 5+ years B2B business development/sales experience.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in market research and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
