Reporting to the Chief External Affairs Officer, the Director, Mobilization will provide oversight to advise, develop, and optimize outreach strategies at state, regional, and national levels. In this role, the Director is accountable for the execution of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation’s advocacy campaign program, encompassing advisory supervision and support for audience targeting, digital and paid media efforts, as well as regional and state mobilization activity. Responsibilities include implementing and coordinating federal and state advocacy initiatives, delivering membership support services, engaging member companies on public policy issues, and overseeing various organization projects as required. Additionally, the Director, Mobilization collaborates with the Chief External Affairs Officer who is responsible for designing and implementing the strategic initiatives and paid media elements to enhance awareness, understanding, and advocacy for the association’s role in the industry. This collaborative effort aims to further the association’s positioning and influence among policymakers, C-suite executives, and various constituencies, with the Director, Mobilization closely engaging with management, membership, and providing regular updates to the governance committees.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Industry-Wide Mobilization Efforts:
  • Coordinate and collaborate with existing member mobilization programs.
  • Lead efforts for members without mobilization capabilities.
Enhanced Engagement Strategies
  • Implement state-of-the-art tools and resources for grassroots and grasstops engagement.
  • Maintain an effective database supporting program and association goals.
Metrics and Advocacy Program Evaluation
  • Implement a tracking and metrics system for evaluating advocacy program.
  • Assess specific tasks and actions of grasstop and grassroots leaders.
Advocacy Training and Relationship Management
  • Provide advocacy training sessions and issues presentations for member companies and external audiences.
  • Maintain effective relationships with existing members, partners, and consultants.
State Team Advocacy
  • Collaborate with state team members/consultants and 3rd party groups on cultivating grassroots and grasstop leaders.
Strategic Leadership and Communications
  • Enhance the association’s positioning, messaging, and external communications.
Paid Media Management
  • Oversee paid media communications development, including research, messaging, and audience targeting.
  • Create and manage system for metrics tracking across various platforms.
Web and Creative Marketing Management
  • Manage in collaboration with Communications team, various aspects of the association’s web and creative marketing, including visual identity, brand story, and industry narrative.
  • Create creative templates for reports, infographics, web forms, and presentations.
Collaboration Across the Organization
  • Collaborate with other staff across the organization to ensure targeted and substantive delivery of membership services.
  • Undertake other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years of experience preferably I politics, grassroots, advocacy, and paid media.
  • Minimum 4 years of management experience with advanced subject matter expertise and budget management.
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal legislative processes.
  • Deep understanding of the political electoral process at the state, federal, and local levels.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects from strategic planning to successful execution.
  • Excellent relationship-building, problem-solcing, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar products in a windows environment.
  • Candidates with a background in political campaigns and/or political firm are preferred.
  • Work on issue campaigns or ballot initiatives is ideal.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills are essential.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively, with flexibility, and personal diplomacy in a team environment.
  • Possess a high level of personal integrity and other essential leadership characteristics.
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Excellent and persuasive communicator.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Executive Committee, Board Members and staff.
